Antonio Canova (1757-1822) was a Italian neoclassical sculptor who gained fame for his sculptures, whether of mythological figures or illustrious contemporaries , his work quickly became iconic as it is still today and he became a favorite artist of popes, emperors, kings, and noblemen of this time.We centre our review on examples that showcase his ability to produce graceful compositions  of the female form and Antonio's ability to carve and finish marble to resemble the human body to near life-like detail , these are exquisitely beautiful works.

Charles Gleyre (1806-1874) was a Swiss painter who played a significant role in the development of 19th-century French art. Gleyre's style is characterised by meticulous attention to detail and a preference for historical and mythological subjects ,our focus is how he depicted women in mythological dreamy realms  capturing their beauty  and  exquisite form that grabs your attention and transports you into the mythological realm.

Toronto based Jennifer Toole is a photographer, writer & cinematographer who's work has featured in such publications as Vogue and Complex Magazine. We were drawn to her collection of work that varies from Portraits, Commercial and Editorial but a common quality is how she captures her favourite subject , people. She describes her work as a process of coaxing a person’s essence out of them and capturing it on film to be remembered forever, giving her much enjoyment.

Here at Libidine we do not have a set path of where we are taking this blog other than to marvel at the beauty of a women's body  and we were undecided what would be our first submission to our gallery when we stumbled across Angelina who is a model and artist .
