We adore how Jennifer's work celebrates the power and elegance of women. Her process stems from the cultivation of an organic and unadulterated relationship with her subjects. From that raw point of connection, the tension or energy of the photograph this creates timeless images.

We particularly  like her collection of themed works known as the 'The Goddess Array' and 'Herself' series. We will focus in on the 'Herself' collection which got many around 2015 into a frenzy. The collection was published on the now defunct feminist website herself.com which was curated by Australian actress Caitlin Stasey and a group of 6 photographers including Jennifer to take nude portraits of women embracing their autonomy. The concept was to invite women of every body type and background to be photographed as nature intended. Identified only by their first names Jennifer photographed them in natural light with medium-format film, giving the raw and unadulterated images the texture of a painting whilst being interviewed by Caitlin on a range of topics including women’s issues, relationships and sexuality. The outspoken pansexual actresses also posed for Jennifer in a captivating collection of photographs.

Laura

Toronto local Laura described herself as very sexual and was fetish-driven when younger and seeked the company of older men. She stated she had some very dark moments and it took her many years to come out of it. She generally viewed herself and her body unfavourably until her mid-20s. These photos in our view show a strong and athletic woman. We particularly like the 1st photo showing her toned body in motion and the 3rd of her seductively lying on the tracks . In all photos we are drawn to her wind swept curly hair, nicely portioned breasts and toned legs and body. We also think the red brown leather boots add something to the shoot.

Demi

Demi stated she wanted to project confidence, happiness and oneness. She stated she was aware that most of what she was involved in was racy, and she could actually care less what the public opinion is of her. She said at the end of the day, I do what I do because I enjoy it, I believe in it and I’ll be damned if I lower my self-expectations to fit social norms. Our favourite pictures in this set are the first two. Demi’s posture in the first picture exudes assertiveness  and desirability, her stance drawing us to her with lustful thoughts of her toned body and legs complimented with pert breasts. The second photo has a shaft of light descending down,illuminating her gorgeous face, our eyes lower as the light draws us to her bosom which is perfectly formed.We notice the left nipple has a piercing of what appears to be a simple barbell to heighten our intrigue.

Chelsea

Chelsea says the image she wants projected is one of Innocence. Naiveté and feminine beauty. When asked what the word ‘women’ meant to her she replied a strong, powerful, goddess-like, mystical creature who is out-of-this-world gorgeous and confident. We are in full agreement.

The photos we think show an organic beauty, you first notice her wonderful curly ginger hair that provides a vivid contrast to her pale skin. The first photo we particularly like as the filters make it appear as if it is a painting ,you can imagine her being the muse of a painter hundred of years ago marvelling at her slender body complemented by freckles.

S   [Shimoor]

S described herself when growing up as an awkward-looking kid with crooked teeth, giant eyebrows and a lot of facial hair. So must prove the adage that from a ugly duckling into a beautiful swan is true ! The snake we think adds a striking element to the photos ,drawing you in. Traditionally the snake has symbolised female wisdom, power, and regeneration. We think the key being  regeneration as we know snakes periodically shed their skins, so this could be associated with transformation and possibly healing of the subject.  We particularly like the second photo ,we love the sparkle in the deep brown eyes and full lips that make her wonderful face. Then you notice the snake slithering down her shoulder and following the contours of her breast , the combination of her arm, the snake and sunlight focus in on her areola, capturing the exotic nature of the shoot. The 3rd photo shows her confidence and beauty of her body, it is delightful,again the snake draws the viewer  to the breast which has a nipple ring and is nicely portioned. The 4th photograph showcases her wonderful body, her nicely formed buttocks and bossom on show , her haircut is unusual but serves to focus us on her beautiful face which appears to be glowing in the sun light

Casey

Casey Calvert is an award winning pornographic actress and director who stated she hoped the collection of photos would project an image of a woman who is strong, intelligent, and confident in her sexuality. She believes feminism and porn go hand in hand ,she said if feminism is a woman’s right to choose ,a woman’s right to be her own woman ,who says I can’t be confident and sexy, and choose to fuck on camera?  Though provoking words for sure , our take on the set of photos is one indeed of a strong confident woman . Unlike some women in the industry Casey projects a more natural rather than artificial demeanour which are superbly captured in these pictures. The use of light capturing elements of her body to be admired by the veiwer.  The first photo sees Casy in a confident pose; her round breasts with nipples hard are captivating in the sunlight. The 2nd conveys happiness as she moves her head back the sun's rays illuminating her face and exposing her bosom in detail. The 3rd showcases her trim body and the fourth with her hair up we can see contours of her back and pert bum.

Milena 

Milena Maia is from Brazil and wanted the photos to project a  strong and successful woman. We love the first photo, you notice her cute face , dark eyes and smile complemented with freckles , a necklace falls between her breasts, the tan lines bringing the areola and nipple to your attention, it is a wonder. The 2nd and 4th display what we love about tan lines it brings out parts of a woman's body and is so natural. The tan lines follow her waist and down her plump buttocks, by the relatively thin lines we can assume many turned heads at the beach as she walks past in a thong bikini.

Caitlin

Caitlin not only conducted the interviews for the website to accompany the photoshoot of each model she also was one of the models. She is an accomplished actress starting at an early age in Australian soap Neighbours to historical drama Reign (we cannot resist a woman in period costume) and most recently Class of '07, a comedy. She has also appeared in films such the Supernatural horror film, Smile.

We think all four photos encapsulate female beauty. The 3rd photo is perhaps our favourite but each offers something. What do we like about photo 3? To start with, the lighting and colours bring the form to the forefront; the multiple piercing of her lobe and helix with plain earrings indicate she is confident in herself and values her individuality. Her hair is formed into a bun so as not to distract from her face and body. You notice her deep brown eyes and thin lips with subtle lipstick upon them. Also you cannot ignore her perfectly formed breasts. We also like photo 2 with her hair down. She moves it to one side so we can see a toned back and small buttocks , the right cheek having a heart tattoo is most alluring. The fourth photograph is a full frontal showing her trimmed vulva and toned thighs, looking away from camera she shows some vulnerability but at the same time confidence , saying to the viewer appreciate my body.

Cricket

Cricket Guest was an award winning beauty queen at the time of the shoot ,winning the World Beauty Organization’s Top Model Of The World Canada pageant. But en route to the world final she stopped off at Jennifer's studio to shave her head and pose naked  in an act of defiance against the beauty pageant industry. Today she is active in Indigenous justice & a human rights activist, filmmaker, actress, model and writer. We think we will write a little more on the background to this charged photoshoot another day and we will instead concentrate on the results of the photoshoot. It is fair to say for a women to shave her head it is a bold statement that she feels no longer forced to adhere to society's beauty standards that a woman should have long hair to be feminine. Whilst we would be lying if we said when we normally think of studying the female form she is often depicted with flowing hair as a sign of attractiveness this shoots proves we should all look deeper. One thing we notice is although she is totally naked in the photos her hand,arms and legs are placed to protect her modesty. The photos centre on her beautiful face, the skin head cut seeming to make us notice more her facial features particularly her amazing blue eyes framed by her long lashes and red lips contrasting against her exquisite pale skin seem to show an expressive and confident women. The 3rd picture although still showcasing  her pretty face also invites the viewer to appreciate her fine body.
